About the album I Walk The Line

In 1964, Johnny Cash debuted his collaboration with Columbia Records with the album I Walk The Line, a classic country album. The producer of the album was the legendary figure of the American recording and music industry, Don Law.

I Walk The Line contains twelve songs, eight of which are brand new compositions by Johnny Cash, including the now-legendary I Walk The Line, while several of the others are covers of classic country or blues songs. In this album, Johnny Cash establishes his style of performance and builds his artistic persona, that is, to talk about serious matters with humor—mainly dark and ironic—and for the listener to feel his sardonic smile.

This album by Johnny Cash was the first to reach 500,000 sales in the USA and became gold. Johnny Cash was now well on his way to becoming what he became.
