Plastic Letters by Blondie
About the album Plastic Letters
In the time period between June and July of 1977, the band Blondie recorded their second studio album titled Plastic Letters. Its release in the U.S. would take place in February 1978. It was preceded by its release in Japan at the end of 1977, an edition that had a different order of songs. Musically, the album would move between pop/rock and punk-rock under the veil of new wave.
With Plastic Letters, Blondie completed their collaboration with producer Richard Gottehrer, with whom they had also collaborated on their debut the previous year. From Plastic Letters, the song Kidnapper (in Japan) stood out as the first single, but the one that became a bigger hit - mainly in European countries - was the second single, Denis, a cover of a song by Randy & the Rainbows from 1963, and the exact title was "Denise".
The album had clearly better luck in the United Kingdom than in the U.S. It reached No.10 in Britain, sold 300,000 copies, and went platinum, while in the U.S. it was limited to the 72nd position on the Billboard chart.
