About the album La Lengua Popular

In 2007, Andrés Calamaro released his eleventh personal album titled La Lengua Popular, an album filled with twelve new rock and pop songs, an album with which he won the Grammy award for Best Latin Singer the following year. The title of the album comes from a phrase in the song that closes the album, Mi Cobain, a song with lyrics that are sarcastic about the political and social situation in Argentina. Cobain, of course, is Kurt Cobain from Nirvana.

From the album, standout tracks included Los Chicos, which became an amazing moment in Calamaro's concerts in the following years, 5 Minutos Más (Minibar), Mi Gin Tonic, and Carnaval De Brasil. Andrés Calamaro collaborated on the production of the album with Cachorro López, whom he knew from the days of Los Abuelos de la Nada in the 1980s.

The album cover is designed by Argentine Ricardo Siri, also known as Liniers. The sales of La Lengua Popular have exceeded 70,000.
