Frank by Amy Winehouse
About the album Frank
The just twenty-year-old British Amy Winehouse released her debut in 2003, which is titled Frank. The title is due to the great appreciation and admiration Winehouse had for Frank Sinatra. The album was recorded during 2002 and 2003 in London, Miami, New York, and New Jersey.
Frank is a jazz record with many elements of soul, hip hop, and even bossa nova, whose great asset is the voice and interpretation of Amy Winehouse. Besides performing the songs, Amy Winehouse also takes part in composing them.
In statements the following year, Amy Winehouse said she didn't like her album to the point of not having it in her record collection (!) Fortunately for her, 1,000,000 of her compatriots were convinced otherwise and bought it, while the example of the British was followed by just as many people around the rest of the world.
