The band initially consisted of singer Brett Anderson, bassist Mat Osman, guitarist Bernard Butler, and drummer Simon Gilbert. Their music is characterized by a blend of glam rock and alternative rock sounds, with strong influences from the British rock scene of the '70s and '80s. Their debut album, "Suede" (1993), achieved great success and earned them the Mercury Music Prize. Suede is known for hits such as "Animal Nitrate," "Beautiful Ones," and "Trash," and are considered pioneers of the Britpop movement of the '90s. After a period of disbandment, they made a strong return to the music scene in 2010, continuing to tour and release new work.
