About the album Fragile
Fragile is the fourth album by the British band YES, but it will be their second release in 1971, after The YES Album earlier in the year. The band enters the studio immediately after the end of the supporting tour for The YES Album and prepares Fragile within a month.
In Fragile, YES welcome Rick Wakeman on keyboards, as Tony Kaye left immediately after the previous tour because he refused to play electronic keyboards. This was a decisive change in the course of the band. In this album, YES also start something else very crucial for the first time. This was their collaboration with designer Roger Dean, who would take over the artwork for the album covers from then on.
Fragile ranks among YES's top albums, but it also holds a special place among the progressive records of the 1970s. In the U.S., it has sold 2,000,000 copies, and another 300,000 in Britain.
