About the album Close To The Edge

YES return to discography in 1972, almost a year after Fragile, offering progressive rock fans yet another masterpiece, known as Close To The Edge. The album consists of only three compositions. It will be the last YES album on which their original drummer Bill Bruford played, as he left after its recording.

The inspiration for the 18-minute suite Close To The Edge came from the book by German author Hermann Hesse "Siddhartha," a book that deals with the spiritual search for the self and is inspired by the Hindu religion.

This particular album sold 1,000,000 copies in the U.S., 300,000 in Great Britain, and 100,000 in Canada. In this way, YES became one of the most representative progressive rock bands in the second half of the '70s.
