About the album Into The Music
Van Morrison bids farewell to the 1970s with Into The Music, an album where Morrison seems to return to his rhythm 'n' blues and soul roots, while there are also elements of Irish traditional music. The album was recorded at Record Plant in California with producer Mick Glossop, as well as Van Morrison himself.
Into The Music is considered one of Van Morrison's best works, an album that initiated a long-term collaboration with saxophonist and former James Brown collaborator, Pee Wee Ellis, whom trumpeter Mark Isham knew and knew that he lived near the studio. So, he suggested to Van Morrison to invite him for a song. Pee Wee Ellis came to play on Troubadours, stayed for the rest of the album, and stayed close to Van Morrison for another eleven records until 1999 (!) Most of the songs Van Morrison composed in a small village in England, Epwell, and the atmosphere there influenced his compositions.
Into The Music reached No.21 in the United Kingdom.
