October by U2
About the album October
Immediately after the tour to promote their first album, U2 began writing material for what would become their second studio album titled October, which was released in October 1981.
The formula followed was the same as the previous one. The same producer, Steve Lillywhite, and the same recording studio, namely Windmill Lane Studios in Dublin, while the songs musically had more or less the same post-punk musical direction. The impressive and different aspect this time had to do with the theme of the lyrics, which for the most part deal with God and religious themes.
The album reached No.11 in Britain and No.104 on the Billboard. The highest position it achieved was on the New Zealand charts, where it reached No.6.
