About the album Turn Back

Turn Back, the third studio album by Toto, was released on January 16, 1981, by Columbia Records. The album was recorded in 1980 at Cherokee Studios in Los Angeles. The production was done by the band itself in collaboration with Geoff Workman, known for his work with Queen and Cars. Their goal was a harder, "arena rock" sound to compete with bands like Foreigner and Journey.

The album cover was designed by Tony Lane and is characterized by its minimalist, calligraphic approach. The work is considered so significant artistically that it is included in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.

Commercially, the album was considered a disappointment, reaching only No. 41 on the Billboard 200. The album's worldwide sales reached approximately 900,000 copies.
