About the album Boston
With their self-titled debut, Boston succeeds in their first attempt to reach where others need years and four to five albums in their career. Boston understood exactly what their compatriots wanted to hear in the mid-70s, and Tom Scholz and his group gave it to them generously: progressive rock for the masses and radio.
The impressive thing was that the album was mostly recorded in the basement of Tom Scholz's house with equipment and techniques that he himself invented. After the success of the album, Tom Scholz founded Scholz Research & Development, Inc. and patented many of the things he had constructed concerning music and its recording.
The success of the album was so massive that it led Boston on a ten-month tour in the U.S., while they also opened concerts for Black Sabbath. Sales of Boston have reached 17,000,000 copies in the U.S.
