About the album Private Eyes

Private Eyes by Tommy Bolin was released in September 1976 and is his second and last solo work before his untimely death in December of the same year. The production was co-signed by Tommy Bolin himself and Dennis MacKay, known for his collaborations with artists like David Bowie.

The recording of Private Eyes took place in June 1976 at Cherokee Studios in Los Angeles and Trident Studios in London. The recordings lasted only 8 days. It is a blend of Hard Rock, Jazz Rock, and Fusion. Unlike the previous album (Teaser), Private Eyes is considered more cohesive, combining electric riffs with blues elements and soul touches.

Despite its artistic value, the album did not achieve great commercial success upon its release, mainly due to Bolin's death two months later which interrupted its promotion. It remains a "cult classic" for rock fans. The song Post Toastee is the most recognizable and popular track of the album to this day.
