Voodoo Lounge by The Rolling Stones
About the album Voodoo Lounge
The Rolling Stones return to discography after a five-year absence with their twelfth studio album, Voodoo Lounge, in 1994. It was the first album they recorded without Bill Wyman on bass, who was replaced by Darryl Jones without becoming a core member of the band despite his close and lasting collaboration with the group for many years.
The original edition of Voodoo Lounge was on double vinyl as the duration of its fifteen songs exceeded one hour. Its first single was Love Is Strong, which became one of the biggest rock hits in the mid-1990s. Overall, it is one of the most commercially successful albums of the Rolling Stones according to its sales, which have now exceeded 6,000,000 copies worldwide.
The major change that this album brought, apart from the collaboration with Virgin Records, was the collaboration with Don Was, who took on the role of producer. The collaboration with him lasted for many years and certainly played a role in the renewal of the sound of the more recent Rolling Stones records.
