About the album Get The Knack
In 1979, a year in which pop & rock music welcomed some of the best albums in its history, the debut of a group from Los Angeles named The Knack also appeared. Their debut is titled Get The Knack and musically moves between power pop, new wave, and even lightly touches upon punk. Behind most of the compositions of the album were Doug Fieger and Berton Averre.
The Knack became "the apple of discord" among 13 record labels due to their live performances in small clubs. Ultimately, they were won over by Capital Records, which proved to be particularly daring and fortunate as Get The Knack sold 2,000,000 copies just in the U.S., and half of those were sold within two months of the album's release. Producer Mike Chapman did an excellent job. The album's great timeless hit was My Sharona.
The paradox with this album was that in the United Kingdom it only reached No. 65. From then on, The Knack couldn't even remotely replicate what they did with their first album.
