Battle Born by The Killers
About the album Battle Born
Battle Born is the fourth studio album by The Killers, released in September 2012. The title pays homage to the state flag of Nevada and the band's own Las Vegas studio where the bulk of the record was tracked.
Musically, the album blends alternative and heartland rock, drawing heavy inspiration from American "stadium rock" icons like Bruce Springsteen and U2, while retaining the band's signature synth-pop flourishes. It features a powerhouse production team, including Steve Lillywhite, Brendan O'Brien, Daniel Lanois, Stuart Price, and Damian Taylor. The cover art, featuring a car racing across a sun-drenched desert, perfectly captures the album’s "desert rock" vibe. Most tracks were penned by the band members—Brandon Flowers, Dave Keuning, Mark Stoermer, and Ronnie Vannucci Jr.—with additional songwriting contributions from Daniel Lanois.
Battle Born debuted at No. 1 in the UK, extending the band's consecutive streak of chart-toppers, and reached No. 3 on the US Billboard 200. To date, it has sold over a million copies worldwide, with roughly 350,000 units sold in the US and 380,000 in the UK.
