About the album Fire Of Love

The American band Gun Club manages with their debut album to capture the interest of the underground audience, initially in California and later in the rest of the world. Their 1981 album Fire Of Love is where the members of Gun Club mix blues, punk, and rock, offering a sound different from the norms of the early 1980s.

The album consists of eleven songs. Nine of these are compositions by singer and guitarist Jeffrey Lee Pierce, while Preaching the Blues is a cover of a Robert Johnson song, and Cool Drink of Water is a traditional blues based on the version given by bluesman Tommy Johnson in 1928. The production of Fire Of Love is by Chris D. and Tito Larriva.

The truth is that as an album, it did not achieve any massive commercial success, but it was praised by many other alternative artists and bands in the following years, who imitated and expanded upon what Gun Club created.
