About the album Genesis
In 1968, the psychedelic scene in London was experiencing a particular flourishing. The debut of the Gods was one of the albums released that year and its title was Genesis.
The ten songs on the record oscillate between psychedelic rock and progressive rock, with a greater emphasis on the former musical style. The album was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, and at the time of recording, the Gods consisted of John Glascock (later a member of Jethro Tull) on bass, Ken Hensley (later a member of Uriah Heep) on guitar and keyboards, Lee Kerslake (later drummer on the first two Ozzy Osbourne albums) on drums, and Joe Konas on vocals. Most of the songs are compositions by Konas and Hensley.
The cover of Genesis was one of the first works by the design team Hipgnosis. In 1994, there was a reissue of the album that included four additional songs, among them a cover of the Beatles' Hey Bulldog.
