About the album Wish
Robert Smith has revealed that his inspiration for the songs on Wish were the songs Mesmerise by Chapterhouse and Human by Human League. Wish was The Cure's ninth studio work.
In Wish, one will encounter gothic rock elements that come to match with alternative rock, but also with pop. Some “heavy” musical parts of the album sound that way because the sound comes from detuned instruments. Apart from Robert Smith who takes part in the production of the album, we also have David M. Allen, who was among the most suitable to give that specific atmosphere to the album.
With 3,000,000 copies sold worldwide, Wish is The Cure's biggest commercial success.
