About the album The Head On The Door
The Head On The Door is the sixth album by The Cure, where Robert Smith undertakes to compose all the songs by himself. On the other hand, bassist Simon Gallup returns, Boris Williams takes the seat behind the drums, and multi-instrumentalist Pearl Thompson becomes the fifth member of the band. Its creator, Robert Smith, has stated that he wanted this album to move between the sound of Kaleidoscope by Siouxsie and the Banshees and Dare! by Human League.
All this brings a change in The Cure's sound, which becomes brighter, more pop, and this is evident by the fact that the album reached No. 7 in the United Kingdom and No. 59 on the Billboard, something that hadn't happened before with a previous album by the British in the U.S.
The Head On The Door went gold in the U.S., the United Kingdom, and France. The Head On The Door marked a new era for The Cure.
