About the album Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me
After about ten years of career, The Cure managed with their seventh studio album to achieve success in the United States as Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me reached No. 35 on the Billboard, and thanks to singles like Why Can't I Be You? or Just Like Heaven, the album attracted interest and sold 1,000,000 copies only in the U.S.
Robert Smith has said that this particular album seems to musically complete what the band had done from the start of its career up to that point. Its musical style was somewhere between gothic rock, pop with many post-punk elements. The initial release of the album was in a double vinyl format.
At the time of its release, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me received both positive and negative reviews. Over time, it has managed to be considered one of the band's best works. It is in third place among the most commercially successful studio albums of The Cure, behind Disintegration and Wish.
