About the album Faith
The Cure released their third album in April 1981, titled Faith. The recordings for the album lasted from September 1980 to March 1981 and took place at Morgan Studio in London.
With Faith, the band takes another step into gothic rock. Bassist Simon Gallup uses a six-string bass for the first time, achieving the characteristic sound that defines the entire musical atmosphere of the album. The initial intention for the album's atmosphere - according to Robert Smith - was to be morbid, but Smith was not satisfied with the final result.
The reviews it received as an album at the time of its release were mixed. Some praised it and others wrote excessively negative comments. Faith managed to reach No.14 in the United Kingdom.
