About the album Thickfreakness
In 2003, the Black Keys released their second album a year after their debut. This time the title is Thickfreakness. Here, too, the exact same recipe as their first work is followed, namely gritty blues rock with elements of garage rock - here there is a cover of Have Love Will Travel by the Sonics -, but above all, the philosophy of "do it yourself" prevails once again to reduce production costs.
For example, the album cover came about as follows: Patrick Carney and his brother Michael, who had helped with the cover of the first Black Keys album, were driving around their town with their car and ended up at a supermarket. There, on a shelf, they accidentally saw the can that we see on the cover, which contained thick hair gel. They bought it, and after processing, the can became the main element of the cover of the duo's second album from Ohio. Patrick Carney once again served as the album's producer.
Thickfreakness took the Black Keys' career a step further. Of course, there's no talk of the Billboard Top-200. A ray of light came from the United Kingdom, as it reached No. 182.
