About the album True Stories
In 1986, David Byrne decided to engage in directing and acting. This became a reality through the satirical film "True Stories". On the occasion of the film, David Byrne composed some songs and the music for the film, having the Talking Heads with him in this endeavor. Ultimately, these songs, which constituted the soundtrack of the film, were released all together under the title True Stories and became the band's seventh studio album.
True Stories is an interesting collection of original pop/rock songs, which managed to reach No. 17 on the Billboard and sell 500,000 copies in the U.S. Of course, it doesn't resemble the group's previous works except for David Byrne's distinctive voice. The great success of the album was the song Wild Wild Life, which also became the last single by the Talking Heads to enter the Billboard Top 40, reaching No. 25.
As strange as it may sound, the album reached No. 1 on the charts in Iceland and New Zealand.
