About the album Abandoned Luncheonette
In 1973, the duo of Daryl Hall and John Oates moved to New York from Philadelphia and were influenced by what was prevailing in the music scene of the metropolis.
The result of this change was Abandoned Luncheonette, an album that became a success three years after its release, thanks to She’s Gone, which was covered by Lou Rawls as well as Tavares! It reached – at that time – No. 33 on the Billboard.
According to Oates, it was the album that taught them how a song turns into a recording. The producer Arif Mardin played a significant role in this.
