About the album Naked
The Talking Heads with their eighth album titled Naked in 1988 reach the end of their career. Johnny Marr from the Smiths plays guitar on Ruby Dear, (Nothing But) Flowers, Mommy Daddy You and I and Cool Water, and Steve Lillywhite is in charge of production.
Naked will be a return to the sound of the early efforts of this very distinctive band as it will be filled with funk, with worldbeat elements and will not resemble the pop turn of their two previous albums.
As a result of this, Naked indeed won over the critics, but lost the audience. It barely sold 500,000 copies in the U.S. and 100,000 copies in Britain.
