About the album Tanx

The British designer John Kosh is inspired by the pun that can be made with the title of T. Rex's 1973 album and creates one of the most peculiar rock album covers by photographing Marc Bolan sitting with a toy-tank in front of his feet (!)

Tanx by T. Rex was recorded from August to December 1972 in France at Château d'Hérouville, a mansion a few kilometers away from Paris. The album was produced by Tony Visconti. The sound of Tanx differs in many aspects from the band's previous works. This doesn't mean that in Tanx, T. Rex doesn't play glam rock, it's just that soul has invaded from everywhere, especially in its psychedelic form. Saxophonist Howie Casey makes sure to leave his mark in various parts with his saxophone.

The album reached No.4 in Great Britain.
