About the album Aladdin Sane
David Bowie's sixth studio album was recorded in the whirlwind of success that the artist had experienced for the first time and from the response that the world had shown to Ziggy Stardust the previous year. Thus, somewhere between late 1972 and early 1973, Bowie recorded Aladdin Sane on the sly somewhere between London and New York, while the promotional tour for Ziggy Stardust was still ongoing.
Aladdin Sane also moves in the style of glam rock - in some cases hard rock - and with the compositions included in it, it simply comes to boost David Bowie's popularity even higher. In this album, Bowie collaborates for the last time with the band Spiders From Mars. All compositions are by David Bowie, except for Let's Spend The Night Together, which is a cover of a Rolling Stones song. Ken Scott collaborates with David Bowie in production and they create this impeccable sound of Aladdin Sane.
At the time of its release, Aladdin Sane reached No. 1 in Britain and No. 17 in the U.S. The album's worldwide sales are estimated to have reached approximately 1,000,000.
