About the album The Grand Illusion

On 7-7-1977, the band Styx will release its seventh album titled The Grand Illusion. This happened because the people at the record company A&M Records believed it would bring good luck to the album (!) It is an album that moves in the paths of progressive rock, hard rock, and also art rock. The eight compositions of the record are mainly the work of Young, DeYoung, Shaw, while the whole band is credited with the production of the album.

The two singles that emerged from this particular record were Come Sail Away and Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man), while Miss America and the title track, which opens the album, stood out and were loved by the band's fans. The composition The Grand Finale at the end of the record is a combination of the musical themes of the seven preceding compositions.

The Grand Illusion was particularly commercially successful in the USA as it reached No. 6 on the Billboard and sold 3,000,000 copies.
