About the album Inflammable Material

One of the most important and influential punk rock albums comes from the Northern Irish band Stiff Little Fingers in 1979 with the title Inflammable Material. This particular album was recorded in the first two weeks of November 1979 at the Spaceward Studios in Cambridge. The album comes at a time when the turmoil prevailing in Northern Ireland is at its peak, and the overall style of Inflammable Material reflects the prevailing atmosphere in the region.

The voice of Jake Burns, who sounds like a Johnny Rotten who learned to sing, is the dominant element characterizing the band's entire effort. Musically, Stiff Little Fingers seem to have adopted many elements from the American Ramones. Among the two- or three-minute long songs included in the debut of Stiff Little Fingers, stands out the eight-minute cover of Johnny Was, a song by Bob Marley from the 1976 album Rastaman Vibration.

Inflammable Material reached No. 14 in the United Kingdom.
