About the album The Sky Is Crying

The album The Sky Is Crying by Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble was released on November 5, 1991. It is the fifth and final studio release of the band, which was issued after Vaughan's tragic death in 1990, fourteen months after his tragic death.

The album was not recorded as a single project, but is a collection of 10 unreleased tracks selected by his brother, Jimmie Vaughan, who chose the songs not as "leftovers," but as an honorary presentation of his brother's evolution. The recordings of these specific tracks took place between January 1984 and May 1989 in various studios. The record is a retrospective of Vaughan's musical influences, presenting a wide variety of blues styles. There are samples from Texas, Chicago, and Delta blues to acoustic blues such as Life By The Drop, played on a 12-string acoustic guitar with which the album closes.

Despite the fact that these are "outtakes" (tracks left out of previous albums), it is considered by critics and fans as one of his most quality and complete records. The album debuted at No.10 on the Billboard 200 in November 1991 and won the Grammy Award in 1993 in the category of Best Contemporary Blues Album, while the cover of Jimmi Hendrix's Little Wing also won a Grammy for Best Rock Instrumental Performance in 1992.
