About the album Howlin Mercy
In 1993, John Campbell will release the fourth studio album of his career titled Howlin Mercy. Unfortunately, shortly thereafter he would pass away suddenly, so Howlin Mercy was destined to be his last recording.
The album is full of electric blues. Campbell can be heard singing and playing his electric guitar better than ever. The recording of the album took place at the Power Station studios in New York and took only the first two weeks of August 1992. Dennis Walker took on the production and co-authored seven of the album's ten songs with John Campbell.
Apart from these seven compositions, there are also three cover songs that adorn this album. When The Levee Breaks by Led Zeppelin, Down In The Hole by Tom Waits, and Saddle Up My Pony, which is a traditional American song.
