About the album Fly Like An Eagle

In 1976, the year Fly Like An Eagle was released, the ninth studio album by the Steve Miller Band, it had been almost three years since the release of the band's previous album, The Joker. On this album, they adopt the space rock sound in several of their compositions, most notably at the beginning of the album with the title track and its intro.

Fly Like An Eagle can also serve as a mini best-of for the band from San Francisco, as it includes songs like Serenade, Take The Money And Run, and Rock'n Me, songs that elevated the career of Steve Miller and his band in the second half of the '70s. On the album cover, we see Miller posing with a Fender Stratocaster, which was originally ordered by Jimi Hendrix, but he never got the chance to purchase it as he passed away, and after a modification needed to make it suitable for right-handed playing, it ended up in the hands of Steve Miller (!)

Fly Like An Eagle was particularly beloved by the rock audience in the U.S. to such an extent that in 2025, it was chosen to be one of the recordings to be included in the U.S. National Recording Registry. Its sales have reached 4,300,000 copies, with 4,000,000 sold in the U.S.
