About the album Countdown To Ecstasy
In July 1973, Steely Dan presented their second recorded work titled Countdown To Ecstasy and immediately received the best reviews. The recordings were mainly conducted at Village Recorder, in Los Angeles, as was the case with their first album. The producer of Countdown To Ecstasy was Gary Gratz.
The compositions on the album move between Jazz rock and Soft rock and impress with their perfection, which makes the talent of Walter Becker and Donald Fagen as composers unmistakably clear. The singles that stood out from Steely Dan's second album were Show Biz Kids and My Old School.
Countdown To Ecstasy did not have the commercial appeal of their first album, but over the years it has reached 500,000 copies sold in the U.S. The highest position it reached on the Billboard was No. 35, which is the lowest position any album by the New York-based Steely Dan ever reached.
