Stars by Simply Red
About the album Stars
The fourth studio album by the British Simply Red comes in 1991 and is the album that peaks their career. Simply Red manages to extend their fame with Stars. The songs, while moving in pop forms, do not lose any of the quality blue-eyed soul that characterized the three previous releases by Mick Hucknall and his group.
The album was recorded between August 1990 and June 1991 and bears the production seal of American producer Stewart Levine, with whom the band had collaborated on their first and third studio work. Years later, Levine's work sounds crystal clear and fresh.
Stars has now reached 9,000,000 copies in sales. It should be noted that in the USA the album stopped at No.76 on the Billboard, the lowest position any of the four Simply Red albums had reached up to that time.
