About the album Picture Book
Simply Red were formed in 1985, and in October of the same year, their first album titled Picture Book was released. The band from Manchester drew on the soul and R&B music of the '60s and presented them in a fresh way, while the voice of the then 25-year-old Mick Hucknall caused a sensation with its range and warmth.
Five out of the ten songs from the album stood out as singles. Highly successful were Money's Too Tight (to Mention), Come to My Aid, and of course Holding Back the Years.
The album reached No. 2 in the UK and No. 16 in the USA, and entered the Top-10 in eight other countries. The production belongs to Stewart Levine.
