About the album Real To Real Cacophony

In September 1979, Simple Minds recorded their second studio album, and by November 1979, it was available to the public. Real To Real Cacophony is yet another post-punk album in the long list of similar records being released at that time in the United Kingdom. The record label Arista and its people listened to the album by the young Scots and, disappointed by the outcome, paid no attention to the album. It is noteworthy that the first single from the album, Changeling, was released two months after the album's release.

Of the ten songs on the album, Simple Minds had only four ready beforehand, namely Premonition, Factory, Calling Your Name, and Changeling. The rest were written and recorded from scratch within September 1979 at Rockfield Studios in Wales. We should also add the not yet developed voice of the twenty-year-old Jim Kerr. The producer of the album was John Leckie.

Despite all this, Real To Real Cacophony had no success on the UK charts.
