About the album Rock The Nations
The English heavy metal band Saxon, in eight years since their first release, reaches their eighth (!) studio album. The general assessment of the 1986 Rock The Nations is not the best possible, whether it comes to critics' opinions or to loyal fans and friends of the band. Obviously, the shift to softer forms of heavy rock music that prevailed in the mid-'80s was not very well-liked.
The album was marked by the departure of bassist Steve Dawson, who was one of the founding members of the band, during the recording. During the recording of the album, the singer Biff Byford also played the bass parts. In the songs Party 'til You Puke and Northern Lady, we hear Elton John playing the piano (!)
Rock The Nations reached No. 34 in Britain.
