About the album Power & The Glory

The British heavy metal band Saxon released their fifth album in 1983, an album that was recorded in the U.S., specifically at Axis Sound in Atlanta, Georgia in the fall of 1982. Its title was Power & The Glory. This album marked the debut of drummer Nigel Glockler, who replaced Pete Gill. The producer of the record was American Jeff Glixman.

The eight compositions that make up Power & The Glory are a collaborative result of all the members of Saxon. The songs Power And The Glory and Nightmare were the two singles from the record. The album closes with the song The Eagle Has Landed, which was the title of the live recorded album from the previous year. This particular album has received mixed reviews over time. Some have considered it one of the best examples of the band's work in its early steps, while others have found it to be an album with very poor production and nothing particularly significant to offer.

Its commercial appeal in the United Kingdom brought it to No. 15 on the charts, while it was the first Saxon album to enter the Billboard, reaching the 155th position. Power & The Glory managed to achieve relative success in countries such as Germany, France, Norway, and Sweden where it reached No. 9.
