About the album Stranded

Roxy Music recorded their third album in September 1973. The title of the album was Stranded and it was released in November of the same year.

The album falls within the realms of art rock and glam rock, combining an experimental inclination with sophisticated pop. It is the first album after the departure of Brian Eno, a fact that led to a more structured and less chaotic sound, with greater emphasis on orchestration and melodies. Street Life was the only single from the album and a major hit, reaching No.9 in the United Kingdom. Other notable songs were A Song For Europe, Mother Of Pearl, and Psalm. The album cover is iconic and follows the glamour aesthetic that characterized the band. Marilyn Cole, then Playboy's Playmate of the Year and Bryan Ferry's partner at that time, is depicted in an exotic, 'stranded' pose in a jungle, with bold makeup and a dramatic expression.

Stranded reached No.1 in the United Kingdom and No.186 on the Billboard chart.
