For Your Pleasure by Roxy Music
About the album For Your Pleasure
Roxy Music, with merely their second studio album, are quickly advancing towards their musical maturity both as individuals and as a band. 1973's For Your Pleasure - even though it is just their second discographic release - elevates them to major protagonists on the British pop/rock scene. The musical style of the album moves between art rock and glam rock at a time when the latter was one of the dominant trends in British pop.
The album had two producers: Chris Thomas and John Anthony. The eight songs on the record are compositions by Bryan Ferry. John Porter played bass for the album's recording needs as Rik Kenton left shortly before the recordings began. Also, it was the last album on which Brian Eno played synthesizers as he left to start his solo career after the recording was completed, a recording that took place in February 1973 at George Martin's AIR studios in London. The legendary album cover prominently features an edited photo of Amanda Lear, who is holding a panther. At that time, she was in a relationship with Bryan Ferry.
For Your Pleasure is considered among the best discographic works of Roxy Music. It reached No. 4 on the British charts, while in the U.S., it barely made it into Billboard's Top-200.
