About the album Time Takes Time

The 1992 album Time Takes Time is considered Ringo Starr's big "comeback" album, as it was his first work after nine years of absence from recording. It was released on May 22, 1992, in the USA and on June 29 in the United Kingdom by Private Music. The album is characterized by its "all-star" production team, which included Jeff Lynne (ELO), Don Was, Peter Asher, and Phil Ramone.

  • The recording of the album took place from March 1991 to February 1992 in various studios in Los Angeles. Time Takes Time featured great artists, giving it a strong "Beatlesque" sound, such as Brian Wilson and Harry Nilsson on vocals, Jeff Lynne on guitars and bass, and Benmont Tench from Tom Petty's Heartbreakers on keyboards. The cover illustration was done by the well-known artist Mark Ryden.

Although it received the best reviews since the time of the album Ringo (1973), commercially it failed to enter the charts in the USA or the UK. The single "Weight Of The World" reached No. 74 in the UK. Today it is considered one of the highest quality albums of Ringo Starr's solo career and is sought after by collectors, especially the vinyl edition which was only released in selected countries at the time.
