About the album Ringo

Ringo, released in November 1973, is considered the most iconic moment of Ringo Starr's solo career. It is the only album on which all four former "Beatles" participated, although on different tracks, creating the feeling of an informal reunion of the Beatles. John Lennon wrote and played piano on the opening I'm the Greatest, George Harrison co-wrote the major hit Photograph and wrote Sunshine Life For Me and You and Me (Babe), and Paul McCartney wrote Six O'Clock and participated in the vocals and kazoo-style solo of You're Sixteen.

The recordings of the album began in March 1973 in Los Angeles (Sunset Sound Recorders) and continued in London (Apple Studios), because Paul McCartney could not travel to the USA at that time due to problems with his visa. Richard Perry took over the production, giving the album a clean, pop-rock sound. The cover is a painting by Tim Bruckner depicting Ringo on a balcony, surrounded by many of the musicians who participated in the album. The original LP edition included a 24-page booklet with lyrics and lithographs by Klaus Voormann.

The album achieved massive commercial success, reaching No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in the USA and No. 7 in the United Kingdom.
