About the album The Getaway
The initial plans of the Red Hot Chili Peppers for their eleventh studio album started towards the end of 2014, but a serious accident of bassist Flea, which left him recovering for eight months, delayed everything. Thus, it wasn't until July 2016 that "The Getaway" was released.
The album moves within the musical style that the Red Hot Chili Peppers had adopted in recent years. A bit of pop/rock, a bit of alternative rock, and a lot of funk rock of much milder tones than that of their earlier albums. Danger Mouse is in charge of production and really does an excellent job. The thirteen songs on the album emerged from about thirty songs that the band had prepared. The four singles of the album helped it reach No.2 on the Billboard. The surprise of the album is "Sick Love," in whose composition Elton John and Bernie Taupin participated, while Elton John also plays the piano (!)
The sales of the album have exceeded 950,000 copies.
