About the album What'd I Say

Ray Charles from the state of Georgia begins recording in 1957. The album What'd I Say is the sixth album of his career and is released at the end of 1959 (!)

The record is filled with rhythm and blues compositions, which, however, were a collection of some of the singles that had been sporadically released during the years 1958 and 1959.

The single What'd I Say will sweep and will be the one that leads this particular record to become his first gold record in the USA. The production of the album was by Ahmet Ertegun (later founder of Atlantic Records) and Jerry Wexler (music journalist and music producer who established the term rhythm 'n' blues).
