About the album Flash Gordon

And somewhere at the end of the year 1980, Queen presented their tenth studio album, which in reality wasn't an album but the soundtrack for the science fiction film "Flash Gordon" by British director Mike Hodges. The question is why Queen entered into this process as they were going through one of their most popular periods, with the album The Game sweeping the charts worldwide.

Except for Flash's Theme, with which the album begins and which is a composition by Brian May in collaboration with Freddie Mercury, the rest of the album consists of instrumental compositions enriched with dialogues from the film or scattered vocals here and there, whose duration ranges from one to two minutes. The album was produced by Brian May and producer Reinhold Mack.

The film was not a cinematic triumph. Its main actors were Sam J. Jones, Max von Sydow, and Ornella Muti. Today, the specific film has gained cult status as only laughter can be produced by what the viewer sees. From this whole story, the only thing that survived was Flash's Theme, which was included in the Greatest Hits of the following year.
