About the album Dry
PJ Harvey records her first album at the age of 22. Dry surprises everyone involved with the sound of alternative rock, and the truth is that she herself has stated that she gave her best effort for the creation of her debut album as she thought it would be her first and last. Not only would it not be her last, but she immediately earned the title of the new "Patti Smith".
Within Dry and its rough sound, one can discern the blues sound as perceived by PJ Harvey. The majority of the songs are entirely her own compositions. With Dry, PJ Harvey starts her collaboration with producer Rob Ellis, who will be behind the production of many more of her albums in the following years.
PJ Harvey's first album reached No. 11 in the United Kingdom. The two singles from the album were Dress and Sheela-Na-Gig.
