About the album El Acto

The Parálisis Permanente and their first and only album titled El Acto were a phenomenon in themselves, a phenomenon of Spanish society in the early 1980s, a society that was just taking its first steps into the modern world trying to make up for the lost decades from Franco's dictatorship.

El Acto is a sheer challenge and a punch to the conservative establishment of Spain that had not yet left the past behind. The challenge of El Acto starts with its cover and continues with its thirteen songs, which either through their distinctive lyrics or their extremely "dark" music intend to shock society. Parálisis Permanente have absorbed everything that has happened in the English-speaking new wave and punk scene and adapted it to Spanish reality. Notable are the two covers that are on the record. One is Héroes, which is David Bowie's Heroes, and the other is Quiero Ser Tu Perro, which is The Stooges' I Wanna Be Your Dog.

El Acto is one of those albums that come not to create hits, but to open new paths, and certainly, this one achieved its goal.
