About the album Draconian Times
The 1995 Draconian Times will be the third and final collaboration of the British gothic metal band Paradise Lost with producer Simon Efemey, and at the same time, it will become the album that places them among the top metal bands of the 1990s.
The album was recorded between January and March of 1995. In this fifth recorded project, Paradise Lost continues in the gothic metal style but with a more technical and refined sound. A new member, drummer Lee Morris, will join the band and remain with the group until 2004. The compositions are primarily by Holmes and Mackintosh. Notably, Draconian Times includes the song titled Shades Of God, a title that was used for their third album in 1992.
Three singles emerged from Draconian Times: The Last Time, Enchantment, and Forever Failure. The first and third singles reached No. 60 and No. 66 on the UK charts, respectively, and certainly boosted the album to reach No. 16 in their homeland, while also achieving success in other European countries like Germany and Sweden. Global sales of the album have exceeded 500,000 copies.
