Right Place, Wrong Time by Otis Rush
About the album Right Place, Wrong Time
The album Right Place, Wrong Time from 1976 is one of the most important works of the legendary blues musician Otis Rush. Although it is considered a masterpiece of the genre, its release history was adventurous.
The album was recorded in February 1971 at Wally Heider's Studios in San Francisco. Although it was intended for Capitol Records, the label rejected the material and left it on the shelf for five years (!). It was finally released in 1976 by the small independent label Bullfrog Records, after Rush himself managed to purchase the recording tapes rights (!). Right Place, Wrong Time represents Chicago Blues with influences from the West Coast.
Although the album did not achieve significant commercial success in the mainstream charts of the time (due to its release by an independent label), it was immediately recognized by critics. Its recording has been inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame (!).
