Push The Sky Away by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
About the album Push The Sky Away
The fifteenth studio album by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, titled Push The Sky Away, was recorded between December 2011 and August 2012, but was released in February 2013. The recordings took place at La Fabrique studio in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence in Southern France. The band and Nick Launay worked on the production of the album. What was different about this album was that part of its recordings was filmed and released in 2014 as a documentary titled "20,000 Days on Earth".
The founding member of the Bad Seeds, Barry Adamson, was present in the studio and recorded as a bassist on two songs, Finishing Jubilee Street and Push The Sky Away, while also contributing to the backing vocals. Three singles emerged from the album: We No Who U R, Jubilee Street, and Mermaids. The cover is a photograph by Dominique Issermann. In the photo, we see Nick Cave and his wife, Susie Bick, and the shooting location is the couple's actual bedroom.
Push The Sky Away reached No. 3 in the United Kingdom and No. 29 on the Billboard. It went gold in Australia, Denmark, and the United Kingdom, where it sold 100,000 copies.
